Whoever comes to power in the West Bengal assembly election, the relationship with Bangladesh will not be affected, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed has said . The state minister was speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday evening, May 4 . "We have our own interests to protect. Whatever government comes to power in West Bengal, it will not have any impact on our bilateral relations," she said . Regarding the Teesta water sharing agreement with India, the state minister said discussions will continue and Bangladesh is hopeful. She also expressed hope that the visa process with India will normalise soon .

ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গ বিধানসভা নির্বাচনে ক্ষমতায় যেই আসুক, বাংলাদেশের সঙ্গে সম্পর্কে কোনো প্রভাব পড়বে না বলে জানিয়েছেন পররাষ্ট্র প্রতিমন্ত্রী শামা ওবায়েদ। সোমবার (৪ মে) সন্ধ্যায় পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ে সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে আলাপকালে তিনি এ কথা বলেন। পররাষ্ট্র প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, পশ্চিমবঙ্গে যেই ক্ষমতায় আসুক, বাংলাদেশের সঙ্গে সম্পর্কে কোনো প্রভাব পড়বে না। বাংলাদেশ নিজেদের স্বার্থ বজায় রেখেই কাজ করবে। পুশইন ও গঙ্গার পানি চুক্তি নিয়ে ভারতের সঙ্গে আলোচনা অব্যাহত থাকবে জানিয়ে তিনি বলেন, গঙ্গা চুক্তির বিষয়ে বাংলাদেশ আশাবাদী। পাশাপাশি ভারতের সঙ্গে ভিসা প্রক্রিয়া শিগগিরই স্বাভাবিক হবে বলেও আশা প্রকাশ করেন তিনি।
