BCB coach Mohammad Salahuddin has expressed regret that young pacer Nahid Rana won't be able to play in the Australia series, as he is currently undergoing medical treatment in Australia for an injury.

Speaking to the media at Mirpur on Sunday, Salahuddin said, "To be honest, I was also very excited to see Nahid Rana bowl bouncers to Australian batsmen."

Currently, Bangladesh's Test squad is dealing with injuries to four pacers and one batsman ahead of the Australia tour. Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam were unable to board the flight for the Test series. Rana's recovery from injury will take some time.

On the Test squad, Salahuddin said, "We have four Tests outside. I hope we can get some good results from these. We have four matches at home — if we can win all four, I think we can stay among the top one, two or three."

"I was also very excited that Nahid Rana would play. Since that didn't happen, there's no point in lamenting. I believe the other bowlers who are there can also do well if they bowl intelligently," he added.

"I am always optimistic about the Test team. I think the players in the Test team are very aware of themselves and their goals, and they are more organised than others. I see no reason why they can't do well here. Whether it's their will or their goal — they are thinking of something really good in practical terms."
