Woman's body found in Lalmonirhat, family alleges rape and murder

The naked body of a woman has been recovered from her home in Aditmari, Lalmonirhat. Family members have alleged that the housewife was strangled to death after being raped.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning, May 24, in the Boardghar Dakhintari village of Durgapur union. The deceased has been identified as Swapna Begum, 50, daughter of late Nozmul Haque and wife of Abul Kalam.

According to local sources, family members called out to the woman when she did not wake up on Sunday morning. After receiving no response for a long time, they broke down the door and entered the room. They found the body lying inside and informed police.

Police arrived at the scene, prepared a report, and sent the body to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The victim's relative, Shahina Khatun, said they had heard no sound from Swapna's room after waking up in the morning. When they entered the room, they found her body lying naked, with the bed broken. They informed police without touching the body.

Aditmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazmul Haque said police have visited the scene. Preliminary indications suggest an unnatural death. The body has been sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved.
