Bangladesh’s women cricketers are finally getting their own franchise spotlight as the inaugural Women’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) roars into action on April 3.

The groundbreaking tournament will run through April 15, ushering in a new era for the country’s women’s game.

For the first time, a full-fledged T20 franchise league dedicated to women will take center stage in Bangladesh. Three teams will battle it out in the debut season, blending national icons with rising stars eager to make their mark under the bright lights.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that local players will be picked through a competitive draft to ensure balanced squads, while franchises will have the opportunity to sign overseas stars directly—adding international flavor and firepower to the contest.

BCB officials say the goal is clear: deliver a high-intensity, world-class tournament that elevates Bangladesh’s presence in the rapidly growing global women’s T20 circuit. From broadcast production to commercial partnerships, the board is aiming big.

The Women’s BPL Governing Council, headed by BCB Women’s Wing Chairman Rubaba Dowla, will oversee the tournament’s format, fixtures, venues and operations. More details are expected in the coming days as excitement builds.

With the men’s BPL already a household name after 12 editions, the women now step onto the franchise stage—ready to swing hard, bowl fast and script a new chapter in Bangladesh cricket history.
