Bangladesh women’s hockey team registered a landmark victory, defeating Uzbekistan 3–2 in the Asian Games qualifying round in Indonesia, earning their first-ever international win since the team’s formation.

After drawing their opening match 5–5 against Chinese Taipei, Bangladesh carried momentum into their second Group stage fixture, collecting a crucial full three points and moving to the top of the standings with four points from two matches.

Bangladesh made a strong start and went ahead in the 11th minute when Sharikha Rimon converted from a penalty corner, striking the post to open the scoring.

Uzbekistan responded quickly as Madinabanu Khujayeva levelled the match from a penalty corner just a minute later.

Kona Akter restored Bangladesh’s lead in the 24th minute with a composed field goal following an attacking move, giving the side a 2–1 advantage at halftime.

After the break, Bangladesh continued their attacking rhythm and extended the lead in the 35th minute when Arlin Ria converted another penalty corner.

Uzbekistan pulled one back in the 46th minute through Zulkhomor Khaidarova, again from a penalty corner, but Bangladesh held firm under pressure to secure a 3–2 win.

With four points from two matches, Bangladesh now lead Group A. Uzbekistan have three points from the same number of games. Bangladesh will face Hong Kong China on 26 April, where even a single point will be enough to secure qualification for the Asian Games.
