Women’s kabaddi team secure bronze in Kabaddi World Cup

For the first time, Bangladesh women kabaddi team have secured at least bronze medals by reaching the semifinals of the Women's Kabaddi World Cup.

Bangladesh defeated Thailand by 40-31 points at the Shahid Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday to book a ticket to the semifinals. At the same time, they were also secured the bronze medal. According to international kabaddi rules, even if a team loses in the semifinals, it will still win the bronze.

Last year's runner-up Iran secured a semifinal berth on the same day. Today, they defeated Nepal 39-11 points.

Bangladesh started off with a win at home. After defeating Uganda in the first match, they won against Germany in the second match. They lost to India in the third match.

This is the second time that the Women's Kabaddi World Cup is being held. India won the title in 2012 by defeating Iran. That time, Bangladesh was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
