Won't ruin my reputation over just Tk 27,000 saree: Tanjin Tisha
Actress Tanjin Tisha has broken her silence over the fraud case filed against her for allegedly failing to pay for a saree. She said she has built a 14-year career and would not ruin her reputation for just Tk 27,000.
Speaking at a press conference for an event, Tisha said she had refrained from commenting earlier out of respect for the law.
"I have been working in this industry for 12-14 years," she said. "I have faced both good and bad times. I have maintained my professional standing."
Hinting at a conspiracy, Tisha said, "The day I started shooting for my film, I received a legal notice the very next day. Within five to six days, a case was filed against me. When someone tries to rise, some people try to pull them down from behind. That's exactly how I felt."
On the allegations, she said, "I have been working in the industry for 14 years—would I cheat for a Tk 27,000 saree from an online shop? Did I work so hard to build my position for just Tk 27,000? It is not easy for a woman to survive in this industry."
On July 12, the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana issued summons against Tisha in the case, ordering her to appear on August 13.
According to the case, Tisha had taken a saree worth Tk 28,800 from the online fashion page 'Apponia' promising to promote and pay for it. She later cut off communication, alleged page administrator Aminul Islam. A case was filed against her under charges of fraud and breach of trust.
Tisha has denied the allegations and called them a conspiracy.
