Worker dies after falling from high-rise in Dhaka

A construction worker died after falling from the sixth floor of an under-construction building in the Meradia area under Rampura Police Station on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam, 35, son of Moyna Mia of Sajani village in Nagarpur upazila, Tangail.

According to co-worker Ahmed Ali, the accident occurred around 10:00pm while Shariful was working on the rooftop. He reportedly lost his footing and fell. Ahmed Ali immediately rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.

Doctors at the DMCH emergency unit pronounced him dead around 11:30pm.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost, said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue. The local police station has been notified, and further procedures are underway.
