World welcomes new English year
The English New Year 2025 has begun, and people across the world have embraced it with new hope, leaving behind the sorrow and struggles of the past year.
As the old year was bid farewell and the new one was welcomed, people in many countries celebrated with grand events, known as "Thirty-First Night." This celebration has now become a global tradition, including in Bangladesh.
Despite the ban on fireworks and sky lanterns, people in the capital, Dhaka, welcomed the new year with enthusiasm. Even before midnight, fireworks and firecrackers could be seen in various streets and on rooftops.
By 11:00 PM on Tuesday, people had already begun their celebrations to welcome the new year. In the city's alleys, streets, and rooftops, people of all ages gathered with family, friends, and loved ones. Sky lanterns could be seen soaring from various rooftops. While the celebrations were filled with joy, the loud noises caused discomfort to the elderly and young children.
