Yamal breaks 70-year-old record

World champions Spain began the UEFA Nations League with an impressive victory. In their first Group A match at Wembley, the Spaniards beat England 3-2. Lamine Yamal gave his team the lead before the match was even two minutes old. His goal has earned a place in the list of fastest goals conceded by England at home.

England's defence was at fault for Yamal's goal. When Marc Guehi lost control while bringing the ball out from his own half, Yamal capitalised on the opportunity. The Barcelona star seized the ball, quickly entered the box and beat English goalkeeper James Trafford to find the net.

According to Opta data, this is the third-fastest goal against England at Wembley. England had previously conceded faster goals only twice. In 1953, Hungary's Nandor Hidegkuti and in 1957, Scotland's Tommy Ring scored against England in the first minute of the match.

In other words, after nearly 70 years, someone scored so quickly against England at Wembley. After 1957, Spain's name has also been written in the pages of history as the third team to score against England at this ground within the first two minutes.
