Yamal breaks Mbappe’s Champions League record

Lamine Yamal continued his remarkable rise by breaking Kylian Mbappe’s record for the most goal involvements by a teenager in Champions League history as Barcelona swept aside Feyenoord 5-1 on Wednesday (September 10).

The 19-year-old forward scored once and provided two assists in a dominant display at Camp Nou, taking his Champions League tally to 23 goal involvements — 12 goals and 11 assists — three more than Mbappe’s teenage mark of 20.

Yamal set the record with his first assist for Raphinha early in the match, moving past Mbappe’s previous benchmark of 20. He later scored from a free kick before setting up Gabriel Jesus for Barcelona’s fifth goal.

The latest milestone adds to an already extraordinary list of achievements for Yamal, who has repeatedly rewritten age records in Europe’s premier club competition. He also helped Spain win the 2026 World Cup and has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

With the 2026-27 Champions League campaign only beginning, Yamal now has another record within reach as he continues to establish himself among the game’s elite.
