Youth dies jumping into river while escaping after Mirpur bus set blaze

Dhaka police reported that a youth died after jumping into the Turag River while fleeing following a bus arson in Mirpur last night (November 13).

The deceased was identified as Sayaf, 22. Further details of the deceased is yet to be confirmed.

According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, several youths set fire to a bus near Sohel Engineering Workshop after pouring kerosene from plastic bottles. They recorded the incident on their phones.

Locals chased the group, capturing 18-year-old Nahiyan Amir Sani, while Sayaf jumped into the river and drowned.

After the incident, he was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors on duty declared him dead.

Police have detained Nahiyan and are searching for another suspect, Rudro Mohammad.
