A young man named Shourav, 27, was hacked to death with sharp weapons in the capital’s Gulshan area. The incident occurred at midnight on Monday. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue. Police have not yet identified who killed him or why. Ali Ahmed Masud, Assistant Commissioner of Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told the media, “Shourav was killed by miscreants on the lakeside of Road No. 55 in Gulshan. His detailed identity is yet to be known. Police recovered his bloodstained body around 2 am. Efforts are underway to find out more details.” Regarding rumours that the victim Shourav was a Chhatra Dal leader, the police officer said the information is not correct.

রাজধানীর গুলশানে সৌরভ (২৭) নামে এক যুবককে ধারাল অস্ত্র দিয়ে কুপিয়ে হত্যা করা হয়েছে। সোমবার মধ্যরাতে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ গিয়ে তার লাশ উদ্ধার করে শহীদ সোহরাওয়ার্দী মেডিকেল কলেজ মর্গে পাঠায়। কে বা কারা, কেন তাকে হত্যা করেছে তা এখনও জানতে পারেনি পুলিশ। ঢাকা মহানগর পুলিশের গুলশান অঞ্চলের সহকারী কমিশনার আলী আহমেদ মাসুদ গণমাধ্যমে বলেন, ‘গুলশান-৫৫ নম্বর সড়কের লেকপাড়ে দুর্বৃত্তদের হাতে খুন হন সৌরভ। তার বিস্তারিত পরিচয় এখনও জানা যায়নি। রাত ২টার দিকে খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ তার রক্তাক্ত মরদেহ উদ্ধার করে। ঘটনার বিস্তারিত জানার চেষ্টা চলছে।’ নিহত সৌরভ ছাত্রদল নেতা- এমন গুঞ্জন প্রসঙ্গে পুলিশের এই কর্মকর্তা বলেন, এটি সঠিক তথ্য নয়।
