Zaher Alvi breaks silence over wife's death

Police have recovered the body of Ikra, wife of actor Zaher Alvi, hanging at a residence in Dhaka's Mirpur DOHS area. The incident occurred around 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 28.

At the time of the incident, Zaher Alvi was on a shoot in Nepal. He received news of his wife's death while there. The actor has been emotionally devastated by the loss. In an emotional post on social media, he expressed his love for his wife and urged everyone not to spread misinformation.

In his post, Alvi wrote, "Today at noon, my wife Ikra committed suicide at our Mirpur DOHS residence. I was on a shoot in Nepal at the time. I am not in a state to speak after hearing this news. I cannot understand why she left this way without thinking about our child and me."

He further wrote, "I request well-wishers and journalist brothers to give me some time. I am trying to return to Dhaka quickly. I will speak with everyone after returning. Until then, please give me and my family some mental peace during this time of grief. Even considering our child's future, please do not spread any misleading information. Everyone please pray for my Ikra."

Ikra was a student of the 41st batch of the Philosophy Department at Jahangirnagar University. Alvi and Ikra married secretly on November 9, 2010, when she was only 19. Their marriage came to light in 2024 after 14 years. They have a daughter named Priyamaya.
