Zaher Alvi makes explosive claims over wife Ikra’s death

Actor Zaher Alvi has made a series of explosive allegations on social media regarding the death of his wife, Afra Ibnath Khan Ikra, claiming attempts are being made to implicate him unfairly and urging authorities to preserve key CCTV evidence.

In a lengthy post late Friday night (March 6), Alvi said a CCTV camera installed in the drawing room of their Mirpur residence was fully controlled through Ikra’s mobile phone, which he claimed is now in police custody.

Alvi alleged that several of Ikra’s friends visited the apartment between February 25 and 27 in his absence and that drugs were consumed during those gatherings. He said the CCTV footage could provide evidence of the events during that period.

He further claimed that a day before the incident, Ikra asked his assistant to buy cigarettes and sleeping pills and appeared to be behaving unusually.

According to him, the assistant has already given a statement to police.

In the post, Alvi also alleged that Ikra’s female friends visited the house on February 25 and 26, while two female friends and a male companion came on February 27, claiming they smoked cigarettes and marijuana and consumed alcohol.

He urged authorities to ensure that CCTV footage from those days is not deleted.

The actor also suggested that the post-mortem report may reflect alcohol or drug consumption the night before the incident and called for the report to remain free from any alteration.

Referring to their personal history, Alvi said the couple had eloped and married in 2010. He alleged that Ikra later married another man with family consent without divorcing him but eventually returned, after which he forgave and accepted her again.

Alvi ended his statement by calling for a fair and impartial investigation into Ikra’s death, citing the future of their child.

Law enforcement authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
