Zaher Alvi named prime accused in wife Ikra’s suicide case

Actor Zaher Alvi has been named the prime accused in the suicide case of his wife, Ikra Alvi, according to a complaint filed by her maternal uncle, Sheikh Tanvir Ahmed.

Police said the case, registered at Pallabi Police Station, also lists several members of Alvi’s family—including his mother—as accused.

Authorities allege that ongoing family disputes and alleged abuse contributed to Ikra’s death.

OC AKM Alamgir Jahan told reporters that a preliminary investigation has begun. The police are examining all aspects of the incident, including questioning involved parties, collecting evidence, and analyzing the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death.

While the case has sparked widespread discussion on social media, law enforcement emphasized that no conclusions can be drawn until the investigation is complete.
