Zimbabwe announces 15-member squad for 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
Zimbabwe have announced a 15-member squad for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with star all-rounder Sikandar Raza named captain for the marquee event.
Veteran spinner Graeme Cremer has also been included, marking his return to a World Cup squad after a seven-year absence from international cricket.
Fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani, who missed the recent tri-nation series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka due to a back injury, has been recalled to the World Cup squad.
Left-arm spinner Newman Nyamhuri is the only omission from the tri-series squad.
Wicketkeeper-batter Clive Madande has also earned a place in the squad, replacing Sean Williams. Madande impressed in the domestic circuit, scoring 152 runs in four matches at an average of 76 and a strike rate of 138.18—the highest run tally in the competition.
Zimbabwe will also benefit from the experience of wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor, who returned to international cricket this year after serving a ban. Since his comeback, Taylor has scored 251 runs in 13 T20 internationals at a strike rate of 144.25. Although his average has been modest, selectors cited his experience and past performances as key factors.
Fast bowler Richard Ngarava, recently appointed captain of Zimbabwe’s Test and ODI teams, has also been named in the World Cup squad and is set to lead the pace attack alongside Muzarabani. In the spin department, captain Raza will be supported by Wellington Masakadza and the experienced Cremer.
Zimbabwe have been drawn in Group B, alongside former champions Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Oman. The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup will be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Zimbabwe will begin their campaign on February 9 against Oman, with all their group-stage matches scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka.
