Zubeen Garg’s ‘Fele Asha’ released a year after his death

An unreleased Bengali song recorded by Indian singer Zubeen Garg has been released a year after his death, bringing his voice back to listeners on the first anniversary of his passing.

Titled ‘Fele Asha’, the song features Garg alongside Bangladeshi singer Ratna Saha and was released on September 19. Its music video is available on Saha’s official YouTube channel.

The song was written by Priyo Chattopadhyay, composed by Rizwain Yasin and arranged by Shubhayu Bhattacharya. The music video, directed by Pavel Mahmud Joy, stars Tarek Zaman and Faria Islam.

Garg, one of northeastern India’s best-known singers, built a wide following through songs in Assamese and several other languages. He also earned a strong audience for his Bengali recordings, making ‘Fele Asha’ another addition to his Bengali musical legacy.

Garg died aged 52 on September 19, 2025, following an accident while scuba diving in Singapore. His sudden death triggered widespread grief across the music industry in India and beyond.

The release of ‘Fele Asha’ on the first anniversary of his death has renewed interest in Garg’s unreleased work, allowing fans to hear his voice in a song that had remained unheard until now.
