1 Bangladeshi among 22 killed in Delhi residential hotel fire
A Bangladeshi national was among at least 22 people killed when fire tore through a hotel in Delhi's Malviya Nagar on Wednesday, the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi confirmed Thursday (June 5).
The victim was identified as Md Nurul Amin, 44. The High Commission said it is working to repatriate his remains at the earliest. Nationals from seven countries were among the dead.
Two Bangladeshi families — both in Delhi for medical treatment at nearby Max Hospital — were caught in the blaze. The High Commission said it remains in round-the-clock contact with survivors receiving treatment at multiple Delhi hospitals.
Bangladesh's High Commissioner personally visited Bangladeshi patients at Max Hospital and met with attending physicians.
Mission officials are stationed at the hospital to handle any emergencies and are coordinating with Indian authorities to ensure adequate care and support for the victims.
