Dhaka ranked among least liveable city in the world: Report
Dhaka has been ranked among the least liveable cities in the world for the second consecutive year, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) Global Liveability Index 2026. The survey of 173 cities placed Bangladesh's capital at 171st position, the same as last year, with a score of 42 out of 100.

Police's two specialised units renamed as 'SSU' and 'SSU-DMP'

Teesta to cross danger level in 3 days, flood fears in 12 districts
While all major rivers across the country are currently flowing below danger levels, the Teesta and several other rivers in the northern, north-eastern and south-eastern regions could see a rapid rise in water levels within the next 24 to 72 hours. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre has said this could cause the Teesta to exceed its danger level and lead to short-term floods in various areas of 12 districts.
