1 killed, 12 injured as bus hits covered van on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

A man was killed and at least 12 others were injured when a bus rammed into the back of a covered van in the Srinagar Upazila of Munshiganj, on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway.

The accident took place at approximately 1:00am at Dogachi area of the upazila today (April 12).

The deceased has been identified as Masud, a resident of Madhya Chandra village in the Amtali Police Station area of Barguna district.

According to witnesses, a Shopnotori Paribahan bus struck the rear of a covered van in the Dogachi area of the expressway, killing Masud on the spot and left several others injured.

On information, a team from the Srinagar Fire Service arrived at the scene, rescued the injured, and sent them to the Srinagar Upazila Health Complex.

Dewan Azad Hossain, station officer of the Srinagar Fire Service, confirmed the matter, stating, "Traffic was disrupted for a short period following the accident. However, vehicle movement on the highway has since returned to normal."
