At least one person was killed and six others injured in three separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway early Friday, according to authorities.

The accidents occurred between midnight and 10:00 AM across different locations on the expressway.

The most serious incident took place around 4:30 AM on the Kuchiamora Flyover in Sirajdikhan. A motorcycle collided with a goods-laden pickup truck on the Dhaka-bound lane, killing motorcyclist Rakib Hossain on the spot. Three others riding on the motorcycle sustained critical injuries.

Earlier, around 3:30 AM, a truck lost control and hit the roadside railing on the Dhaka-bound slope of the Kuchiamora Bridge. Both the driver and his assistant were injured in the crash.

Another accident occurred around 10:00 AM near the old ferry ghat area in Srinagar. A stationary pickup van, undergoing roadside repairs, was struck from behind by another vehicle. The driver of the van, identified as Shuvo, was trapped in the impact and later rescued by the Fire Service before being taken to the hospital.

Confirming the incidents, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Kader Jilani of Hasara Highway Police Station said excessive speed was a major contributing factor. Traffic on the expressway returned to normal after the damaged vehicles were removed.

Police have seized the vehicles involved in the crashes, and Rakib Hossain’s body has been handed over to his family following legal procedures.
