1 killed in bus-truck collision on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

One individual was killed and 11 others injured when a Hanif Paribahan bus crashed into a parked truck on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway near Nimtola Railway Station in Sirajdikhan on Sunday night (August 10).

The accident took place around 9:30pm on the Dhaka-bound lane.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed. Three of the injured are in critical condition, said the Highway Police.

According to eyewitnesses, a speeding Hanif Paribahan bus hit a parked truck, killing one person on the spot and injuring several others. Fire service teams rescued the injured and took them to Srinagar Upazila Health Complex.

Dewan Azad Hossain, station officer of Srinagar Fire Service, said, "The accident likely occurred due to the bus losing control at high speed."

"An investigation into this matter is underway," he added.
