1 killed in cylinder explosion while extinguishing fire in Faridpur
One person named Babul Molla, 35, was killed in a cylinder explosion while trying to extinguish a fire at a shop in Vennatala Bazaar, Alfadanga upazila, Faridpur.
At least five others were injured in the incident. Five shops in the market were completely gutted in the fire. The injured were rescued and admitted to Boalmari Upazila Health Complex.
The incident occurred around 4am at Vennatala Bazaar in Panchuria Union of Alfadanga upazila on Thursday (June 18).
The deceased, Babul Molla, was the son of the late Atiyar Rahman Molla from Harinharnagar village in neighbouring Boalmari upazila. He was a nosimon driver by profession.
Alfadanga Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fakir Taijur Rahman, who visited the spot, said, “We reached the spot after receiving news of the fire. While extinguishing the fire, a nosimon driver was killed and several others were injured in a cylinder explosion. Investigation and legal action are underway.”
