Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, 'The government has already started working to build a humane health system. To that end, quality medical treatment, complete maternal and child health care, including disease prevention activities, will be expanded in cities and villages. One lakh health workers or healthcare workers will be recruited nationwide in stages, of which about 80 percent will be women.'

He said these things in a Facebook post on the occasion of World Health Day tomorrow (April 7) on Monday (April 6). This year’s theme is, ‘Science in Healthcare, Protecting All Lives’.

He said, 'Humans, animals and the environment are closely related to each other. Their safety and well-being depend on each other. Therefore, the protection of all lives is the demand of today. This is the ‘One Health’ concept, which gives equal importance to ensuring human well-being as well as protecting the good health of the environment and fauna.”

The Prime Minister further said, 'The advancement of science around the world has created new possibilities in healthcare. It is essential to ensure sustainable, quality and non-discriminatory healthcare using technology, especially for marginalized areas and poor communities. The innovation, use and expansion of technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) must be encouraged.'

He mentioned that the current government believes in ‘Prevention is Better than Cure’. The elected government is committed to ensuring easy and affordable healthcare for all in a developed welfare state based on the ‘Health for All’ policy.

The Prime Minister said that the government’s plans include: providing e-health cards to every citizen, rapid treatment of long-term and complex diseases, launching the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system, improving the quality of services in the health sector, expanding health insurance, strengthening medical education and research, and enacting fair laws for service recipients and service providers.

To achieve these goals, 5 percent of GDP will be allocated to the health sector in phases. The Prime Minister wished everyone a happy World Health Day 2026 and wished success to all the programs organized on the occasion of the day.
