1 more COVID-19 death reported, 10 new cases confirmed

10 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the country after testing 199 samples, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 2,052,073 from 8 am Thursday to 8 am Friday. During this period, one person lost their life due to the virus.

The Directorate General of Health Services announced this update in its regular briefing on Friday, June 27.

So far this year, the total number of COVID-19 cases has reached 528, including the recent infections. With one new fatality reported in the last 24 hours, the country’s total death toll now stands at 29,519.

The health authority also reported that since the pandemic began, the overall detection rate is 13.04%, while the detection rate in the past 24 hours was 4.02%.

For context, the first cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020. The first death occurred 10 days later, on March 18. The deadliest days of the pandemic were August 5 and 10, 2021, when 264 people died each day.
