Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested 10 Bangladeshis early today (September 20) when they were attempting to cross into India illegally through Baghdanga border in Maheshpur upazila of Jashore. Major Munshi Imdadur Rahman, deputy director of Maheshpur 58 BGB, confirmed that BGB members arrested them from a mahogany garden near the border. The arrestees include four men and six women. All of them are from different areas of Bagerhat, Narail, and Jashore districts, he added. A five-year-old child was also with his parents, the BGB official said. The group along with the child has been handed over to Maheshpur Police Station for further legal action. Authorities also filed a case against the arrested individuals.

অবৈধভাবে ভারতে প্রবেশের চেষ্টা করার সময় ১০ বাংলাদেশিকে আটক করেছে বর্ডার গার্ড বাংলাদেশ (বিজিবি)। শনিবার (২০ সেপ্টেম্বর) ভোরে মহেশপুর উপজেলার বাগধাঙ্গা সীমান্তে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। মহেশপুর ৫৮ বিজিবির উপ-অধিনায়ক মেজর মুনশি ইমদাদুর রহমান বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে জানান, সীমান্তসংলগ্ন একটি মহগনি বাগান থেকে তাদের আটক করা হয়। আটকদের মধ্যে চারজন পুরুষ ও ছয়জন নারী রয়েছেন। তারা বাগেরহাট, নড়াইল ও যশোর জেলার বিভিন্ন এলাকার বাসিন্দা বলে জানান তিনি। বিজিবি কর্মকর্তা আরও জানান, আটক ব্যক্তিদের সঙ্গে এক দম্পতির পাঁচ বছরের শিশুও ছিল। আটককৃতদের শিশুসহ মহেশপুর থানায় হস্তান্তর করা হয়েছে এবং তাদের বিরুদ্ধে মামলা দায়ের করা হয়েছে।
