10 Awami League men detained during procession in Dhaka

Police have detained 10 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations during a brisk procession in the capital's Mohammadpur College Gate area.

Mohammadpur Police Station arrested them on Sunday morning.

Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Jewel Rana confirmed the matter.

The detainees include Sajeeb Sardar, Md. Nazir Hossain, Md. Kabir, Kalam Farazi, Ali Raj Hossain, Md. Kabir Hossain, Md. Swapan, Md. Siraj, Helal Hossain and Asad Uddin.

Police said that they were chased from the scene and arrested while taking out a procession in the College Gate area in the morning. They were involved in politics in Mohammadpur, Adabor and various areas of Dhaka district.

Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP Jewel Rana said that the detainees will be sent to court after the legal process is completed.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies across the country are on high alert due to possible sabotage around the party's founding anniversary, sources said. Patrols, search posts and special operations have been strengthened in various areas including the capital.
