10 crude bombs recovered in Jatrabari

Police recovered 10 crude bombs from an abandoned bag in the South Dania area of Dhaka’s Jatrabari on Sunday evening.

Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Division, confirmed the recovery on Monday (September 21).

According to a DMP press release, police found an old plastic shopping bag at the entrance to a lane beneath a six-storey building near South Dania Kacha Bazar around 6pm.

A search of the bag led to the recovery of the explosives.

The bomb disposal unit was called to the scene and later safely defused the devices at Golapbagh Field around 10:25pm, following standard safety procedures.

Police said efforts were underway to identify those responsible and take legal action.
