10 Dhaka roads to be declared horn-free in January: Environment Adviser

In January next year, 10 roads in Dhaka will be declared horn-free, said Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser on environment, forest and climate change and water resources.

At the same time, she also said that related laws will be amended to make the country horn-free.

She said this while speaking as the chief guest at the grand finale of 'Shahid Salim BUFT National Debate Competition-2024' at BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology at Uttara in the capital on Monday (November 4) evening.

Rizwana Hasan said to keep the country horn-free, everyone should drive their cars in a controlled manner and reduce the use of horns. The role of youth in shaping public opinion based on correct information and knowledge on important issues like environment and climate change is immense.

The environment adviser also said that today's youth will build the Bangladesh of tomorrow. They should contribute to the creation of an environment-friendly country. Based on the right information, the young generation needs to think and solve problems and build a safe and sustainable future through creativity.

BUFT Board of Trustee Chairman Faruq Hasan, member Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Engineer Ayub Nabi Khan, among others, also addressed the event.
