10 hurt as cable catches fire during helicopter balloon flying in Manik Mia
A cable caught fire during symbolic helicopter (gas balloon) flying at a function held on the occasion of 'July Mass Uprising Day' on Manik Mia Avenue in the capital, leaving severals injured.
The incident took place on Tuesday (August 5) afternoon.
The injured are - Md. Mazharul Islam, 27, Md. Billal, 45, Md. Fahat, 20, Md. Munsur Islam, 38, Md. Sharif, 32, Md. Palash, 21, Md. Habibullah, 23, Md. Yasin, 25, Md. Mishu, 23, Md. Mihat, 17.
Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, said, 10 injured were rushed to the hospital. They were discharged after primary treatment.
On this day last year at 2:25 pm, ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh. The organizers said that the balloon was flown to commemorate the moment of her escape.
The gas balloons were also made in the shape of a helicopter, as Sheikh Hasina left in a helicopter.
