10 injured in clash between two BNP groups in Jhenaidah

At least 10 people, including two police constables, have been injured in a clash between two factions of BNP in Kaliganj, Jhenaidah.

The incident occurred around 12 pm on Friday, February 27, following an argument among leaders and activists during a meeting at the BNP party office near Kaliganh police station.

According to police and locals, a meeting was underway at the party office of sheaf of paddy candidate Rashed Khan with BNP leaders and activists from Moharajpur union. Suddenly, an argument escalated into physical confrontation and clash. One group, chased by the other, took shelter inside the police station compound, where clashes continued between the two sides.

Two police constables were injured while trying to stop the clash. At least 10 people were injured in the incident. Tension has been prevailing between the two groups since the incident. Additional police have been deployed in the area.

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jellal Hossain said the clash originated from internal conflict. Those involved in attempting unauthorised entry into the police station premises and attacking police members are being identified. Police remain in a firm position to maintain peace and order.
