Thousands of Muslims in at least 10 villages of Lakshmipur celebrated Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday (May 27), observing the festival in line with Saudi Arabia and several Middle Eastern countries.

The Eid celebrations took place in different villages under Ramganj and Raipur upazilas, including Nayagaon, Joypura, Bigha, Bara Gharia, Hatatia, Sharshai, Kanchanpur and Kolakapa, where worshippers gathered at local Eidgahs and open fields for Eid prayers.

The main Eid congregation was held around 7:00am at the Khanqah-e-Madania Qasemia Ramganj branch located at Jahangir Tower in Ramganj upazila. The prayer was led by Maulana Mohammad Ruhul Amin.

Local residents said followers of Maulana Ishaq (RA) have been observing Eid and other Islamic religious festivals according to the timing of Makkah and Madinah for the past 46 years. As part of that tradition, they continue to celebrate Eid in accordance with Saudi Arabia’s moon sighting and calendar.

The early Eid celebration in these villages has become a longstanding religious practice, drawing participation from thousands of devotees every year.
