100 Myanmar BGP members transferred to Teknaf

Border situation in Naikhyangchhari upazila of Bandarban has calmed down. Hundred members of the Myanmar Border Guard Force have been transferred from Tumbru Government Primary School to Hnila in Teknaf for administrative convenience.

They were taken in a car by Bangladesh Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Thursday afternoon under strict security measures. Shariful Islam, the public relations officer of the BGB headquarters, confirmed the matter and said that 330 members of the Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGP), Myanmar Army, immigration personnel, police and other organizations have fled to Bangladesh so far in the ongoing conflict in Myanmar.

He added that Bangladesh Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) disarmed them and gave them safe shelter. Out of them, 100 members have been transferred to Hnila in Teknaf for administrative convenience.

Earlier in the morning, 243 people of Ghumdhum-Tumbru, Jalpaitli border who took temporary shelter at Uttar Ghumdhum Government Primary School have returned home.

Since last Saturday, clashes were ongoing between the Arakan Army insurgents and the Myanmar junta within Myanmar. The Arakan Army insurgents have infiltrated and occupied three camps of Myanmar border guards beyond the border. In the conflict, 327 members of the Myanmar army and border guards have sought refuge in Bangladesh.
