10-foot Burmese python rescued from house in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya
Forest officials have rescued a 10-foot-long Burmese python from a residential house in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar after frightened locals alerted authorities.
The rescue operation was carried out around 10:00pm at Classpara in Haldiapalong Union by personnel from the Haldiapalong Beat under the Ukhiya Forest Range on Tuesday (July 7).
According to the Forest Department, the python weighs approximately 15 kilograms and was found in healthy condition.
Residents said they spotted the large snake near the house, triggering panic in the neighbourhood. Forest officials quickly reached the scene and safely captured the reptile without incident.
Dochhari Beat Officer Imdadul Rony urged people not to disturb or attack wild animals that stray into residential areas.
"Instead, they should immediately inform the Forest Department so both people and wildlife can remain safe," he said.
Confirming the rescue, Ukhiya Range Officer and Assistant Conservator of Forests Shahinul Islam said the python will be monitored before being released back into its natural habitat.
