10th grader killed as picnic bus crash in Jamalpur
A 10th grade student tragically lost his life in a road accident while traveling to a picnic in Jamalpur at this morning.
The incident took place around 9.00am in the Chataria More area of Sarishabari upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Rashedul Islam (15), son of Siddiqur Rahman from Char Adra village in Sarishabari and was a student of Barrister Abdus Salam Talukder High School in Sarishabari.
According to the police source, Rashedul Islam, excited for the school picnic, was on a bus to Safari Park in Gazipur. On their way, suddenly the driver lost control at Chataria intersection, crashing into a tree. Rashedul, who had his head out of the window, sustained fatal head injuries and was declared dead at Sarishabari Upazila Health Complex.
The incident has emerged shockwaves through the school community.
Abul Kalam Azad, Principal of Barrister Abdus Salam Talukder High School expressed profound grief, saying, "This is an unimaginable loss for us. Today was supposed to be a day of celebration, but this tragedy has cast a dark shadow over our school. We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident."
Chand Mia, officer-in-charge of Sarishabari Police Station, confirmed this.
He said, "We have seized the bus, and I have personally visited the student's family. If they file a complaint, appropriate legal action will be taken.
