11 more die from measles and suspected measles in 24 hours

Eleven more children have died from measles and suspected measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a press release on Saturday, April 25.

According to the DGHS, all 11 children who died in the last 24 hours had suspected measles, with no confirmed cases among the fatalities.

During this period, a total of 1,287 children were infected with measles. Among them, 229 were confirmed to have measles, while 1,058 were identified as suspected measles cases.

Since March 15, the total number of patients with suspected measles symptoms has reached 30,607 across the country. Among them, 4,460 children have been confirmed to have measles. A total of 20,475 patients have been hospitalised during this period, of whom 17,081 have been discharged.

Since March 15, a total of 251 children have died from measles. Among them, 209 deaths were from suspected measles, and 42 deaths were from confirmed measles.

The Dhaka division remains the worst affected in terms of both deaths and infections, followed by Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
