11-year-old madrasa girl gets pregnant: Rape accused teacher absconding

An 11-year-old madrasa student has become pregnant after being allegedly raped by her teacher in Madan upazila of Netrokona.

The accused teacher Aman Ullah Sagar, is the director and teacher of Hazrat Fatematuz Johura Mahila Qaumi Madrasa. He is currently absconding along with his family.

The girl's mother filed a case against Aman Ullah Sagar with Madan police station on Thursday (April 30) evening in this connection.

He is the son of the deceased Shamsuddin Mia of Panchhar Barabari village of Kaitail Union of Sagar upazila.

According to the case dicuments, Aman Ullah Sagar established Hazrat Fatematuz Johura Mahila Qaumi Madrasa in Panchhar village of Madan upazila in 2022. His wife also works as the headmistress in the same madrasa. The victim is the only daughter of a widowed woman from the same area. The child's mother works as a housemaid in Sylhet to earn a living. The child used to study at the madrasa and was staying with her grandmother.

According to the complaint, Aman Ullah Sagar raped the girl in November 2025. He threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident. The teacher took leave on April 18. After that, he has not come to the madrasa. Meanwhile, the victim has also not gone to the madrasa for the last five months due to physical illness.

Later, when the child's physical changes occurred, her mother came from Sylhet and questioned her daughter and found out about the matter. She alleged that the child had been raped by the madrasa teacher. After that, her family took the child to the chamber of Dr. Saima Akhter, a gynecologist at the Swadesh Diagnostic Center located on Hospital Road in Madan Upazila.

Doctor Dr. Saima Akhter said the child complained of a heavy stomach and felt movements inside. Initial tests showed that the child was suffering from severe anemia and was physically very weak.

She added that the tests confirmed that the victim was more than 27 weeks pregnant, that is, about 7 to 7.5 months. The child is only 11 years old, less than four and a half feet tall and weighs only 29 kg—which makes such a pregnancy very high-risk.

According to the doctor, the size of the baby's head (about 74 millimeters biparietal diameter) is much larger than the mother's body size and pelvic cavity. As a result, the normal delivery process can be very risky and almost impossible.

In addition, the child's hemoglobin level is 8.2, which is a sign of severe anemia. The doctor also said that there are problems with malnutrition and worm infestation.

She said that in this situation, natural childbirth is not safe. In some cases, very complex medical procedures may be required, but surgery and anesthesia are also creating major challenges due to the child's age and physical condition.

Dr. Saima Akhter said that the child was very scared and shy at first. She could not clearly explain her problem. Currently, both she and her family are in deep psychological trauma. The child is still unable to fully understand what happened to her and what her health situation may be in the future.

The gynecologist also said that according to the child's age, she was supposed to be under the supervision of a pediatrician. But she had to come to the gynecologist in a critical condition.

Explaining about the physical development of children, she said that usually girls' physical changes begin at the age of 11-12, which gradually reach maturity. But this child was in serious health risk before that natural process began, which is very worrying.

Md. Choton, a teacher at the madrasa, said that no formal complaint was received from the family about the incident earlier. The accused teacher left the area after the incident and is currently uncontactable.

He also said that the accused is now absconding with his family and is not in contact with anyone in the area.

Confirming the case, Madan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam said, "I am a new recruit here so I cannot give any details yet. However, the law will take its own course."
