11-year-old pregnant after rape, female doctor facing threats for disclosing information

The female doctor who confirmed the pregnancy of an 11-year-old rape victim in Madan, Netrokona, is living in fear and not disclosing her location due to threats. Her husband, Md Asifuzzaman, said she is currently staying at an undisclosed location in Mymensingh city.

The doctor, Dr Sayma Akhtar, has been facing cyberbullying and various threats since speaking about the case on a private television channel. She is also being pressured to hand over medical documents and is facing threats of professional harm, which are being investigated by law enforcement . The matter has been reported to various law enforcement agencies, who have assured her of her safety .

Meanwhile, RAB-14 has arrested the prime accused and madrasa teacher, Amanullah Mahmudi Sagar, from the Gauripur area of Mymensingh early Wednesday morning. The accused had been hiding in various locations, including Gazipur and Tongi, and was not using a mobile phone to avoid detection.

The victim was a student at a women's Qawmi madrasa founded by the accused, where she studied while living with her grandmother. Her mother works as a domestic worker in Sylhet.

According to the case statement, the victim was raped multiple times between October 2 and October 9 last year, both inside the madrasa and at a nearby mosque . When the victim became ill and showed physical changes upon her mother's return, medical examinations confirmed the pregnancy.

The victim's mother filed a rape case at Madan Police Station on April 23, naming Sagar and another individual as accused, and the investigation is ongoing.
