12 ministries, divisions get new secretaries

The government has made major changes to secretary-level positions across various ministries, divisions and departments. New secretaries have been appointed to 12 ministries, divisions and departments through promotions, transfers and contractual appointments.

The decisions were announced in separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday night.

Those promoted to secretary positions are: Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Director General of the Wage Earners Welfare Board, as Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat; Yasmin Parvin, SDS (Additional Secretary) at the National Defence College, as Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs; Md Mokhtar Ahmed, Divisional Commissioner of Khulna, as Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment; Rayhan Kawsar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Land, as Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Zakaria, Chairman of the Food Safety Authority, as Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division; Kazi Anwar Hossain, Additional Secretary of the Local Government Division, as Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division; Fahmida Akhter, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, as Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism; Delwar Hossain, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, as Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

Additionally, S M Ebadur Rahman has been appointed as Secretary of the Economic Relations Division on a one-year contract.

Meanwhile, Kaniz Mowla, Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat, has been transferred to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division; Nasreen Jahan, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, has been made Member of the Planning Commission; Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, has been transferred as Member of the Planning Commission. Four secretaries have been withdrawn and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.
