12 vehicles set on fire since poll schedule announced

At least 12 vehicles were set on fire in different parts of the country including the capital within 15 hours since the announcement of the national election schedule.

The media cell of the fire service said in a statement that 'miscreants' are behind all these fire incidents.

The fire service has received information about a total of 11 such incidents at different parts of the country from 6pm on Wednesday (November 15) to 9am on Thursday. In these incidents, 12 vehicles were torched.

Miscreants set fire to a truck in Dohar at 9pm on Wednesday. A covered van was torched in Natore's Bonpara around 6pm and a lagoona was set on fire at Shah Paran in Sylhet around 8:30pm.

On the other hand, miscreants also set fire to a covered van in Bogura's Shakpala area around 9pm. Two buses were torched at Wasa intersectChattogram around 11pm.

A truck was set on fire at Sherpur in Bogura at 12:30am on Thursday. Around the same time another truck was set on fire in Joy Banglar Haat.

A fire incident also occurred in Barisal Division. Miscreants set fire to a lagoona at College Junction in Jhalokati. A train was set on fire in Tangail district. The miscreants set fire to the commuter train around 3am. Besides, a truck was set on fire in Haziganj of Chandpur.

A total of 21 units of fire service and civil defense and 116 firemen worked to control these fires across the country.
