The 12-party alliance has submitted a reform proposal proposing that all reforms except the election-centric reform proposal be implemented in the elected parliament. At the same time, the alliance, an ally of BNP, has demanded that parliamentary elections be held by October.

A delegation led by 12-party alliance spokesperson Shahadat Hossain Selim submitted the proposal to National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Badiul Alam Majumder at the commission office adjacent to the National Parliament Building on Thursday (March 27) afternoon.

Shahadat Hossain Selim said, the National Consensus Commission gave us the reports of 5 commissions. We have called for the implementation of all the issues we agreed on in the elected parliament. We have called for the remaining proposals to be discussed and finalized later.

He said, in addition, the 12-party alliance has requested that a decision be taken after further discussion on 8 proposals of the Reform Commission.

Selim mentioned that there is no need for a 12-party alliance on the referendum and changing the name of the state in the National Consensus Commission proposal. He also said, we do not consider the Constituent Assembly and local government elections necessary before the national elections.

The 12-party alliance has demanded that the national elections be held by October. Selim said, the consensus commission proposal calls for giving constitutional recognition to the ACC. We think the issue is sensitive, so it needs to be reviewed further.

Selim said, out of the 166 proposals submitted, the 12-party alliance agreed with 110, disagreed with 48 and there is room for discussion on 8 proposals.

Present at the time were 12-party alliance leaders Mufti Maulana Mohiuddin Ekram, Shamsuddin Parvez, Aminul Islam.
