12-year-old boy found dead in Sayedabad hotel room
Police have recovered the blood-stained body of an unidentified 12-year-old boy from a room on the fifth floor of a residential hotel at South Sayedabad in Dhaka.
Jatrabari police suspect that the boy was strangled to death. There are also signs of injuries in his rectum.
The body was recovered around 12:30pm on Monday (July 14) after the hotel staff informed the police.
Sub-Inspector Md. Hasan Bashir of Jatrabari Police Station said, “The door of the room on the fifth floor was locked from the outside, and the boy’s body was found on the bed.”
He also said, “Initial questioning revealed that the boy had checked into the hotel two days ago with someone else. Since there are marks of strangulation and injury in the rectum, we suspect it was a murder.”
The CID crime scene unit has collected evidence from the spot, and CCTV footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report is received.
