13th national election to be held first week of February: Press Secy

The 13th national parliamentary election is scheduled for the first week of February, according to Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the Chief Adviser.

Speaking at a media interaction at the Netrokona Circuit House on Friday morning (November 7), he criticized elements from the previous caretaker government era for spreading confusion about the election, calling them "paid agents of a fascist regime" whose claims should be ignored.

Shafiqul Alam also highlighted the role of the media as the fourth pillar of the state, emphasizing the need for mutual trust and cooperation between the government and journalists.

"Responsible and constructive journalism can bring positive social change and that the media is a key partner in promoting the government’s development initiatives," he said.

During the session, journalists discussed local issues, opportunities, and professional challenges, offering suggestions to enhance the standards of journalism in the country.
