13th National Parliament Election: Dhaka District

VB Desk, Elections

VB Desk, Elections

In national parliamentary elections, the capital city and the entire Dhaka district hold the highest importance. In terms of the number of seats, this district ranks at the top, and since the country’s capital is located here, Dhaka receives special priority from all political parties. Analysis of past election results shows that the party winning the most seats in this district usually forms the government. The capital hosts people from all regions of the country, so the voters here represent all parts of the nation. Capital voters are comparatively more politically aware and educated, so no party has maintained absolute dominance here. Looking at the results of past elections (except for 2014, 2018, and 2024), different parties have performed well in different elections. In the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections, with the absence of the Awami League, voters in the capital and across Dhaka district are rethinking their choices.
