Chapainawabganj district is an administrative region in the north-western part of Bangladesh, under the Rajshahi Division. This district is also sometimes referred to as Nawabganj or Chapai. The district has a total of three parliamentary constituencies. Following the publication of the final list of candidates by the Election Commission for the 13th National Parliament elections, campaigning began across the district from last Thursday (January 22).

Chapainawabganj-1 (Parliamentary Constituency No. 43):
Chapainawabganj-1 constituency comprises Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj district. The total number of voters in this constituency is 471,096, including 241,005 male voters and 230,091 female voters. There are no transgender voters.

Candidates: Six candidates are contesting in this constituency: Md. Abdul Halim from Bangladesh Sangskritik Muktijot, Nawab Md. Shamsul Hoda from Bangladesh Islami Front, Md. Shahjahan Miah from BNP, Moha Afzal Hossain from the Jatiya Party, Md. Keramat Ali from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and Md. Monirul Islam from Islami Andolan Bangladesh.

Elected MPs: Moin Uddin Ahmed was elected as an independent candidate in 1986. Mahbubul Alam won in 1988. Shahjahan Miah of the BNP was elected in 1991 and re-elected in both February and June 1996 general elections. He also won the 2001 election from BNP. In 2008, Muhammad Enamul Haque of the Bangladesh Awami League was elected. Golam Rabbani won in 2014, and Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul won in 2018, both from the Awami League. In the 2024 election, Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul was re-elected as the Awami League candidate.

Chapainawabganj-2 (Parliamentary Constituency No. 44):
Chapainawabganj-2 constituency consists of Bholahat, Gomastapur, and Nachole Upazilas. The total number of voters in this constituency is 431,042, including 214,182 male voters, 216,859 female voters, and one transgender voter.

Candidates: Five candidates are contesting in this constituency: Md. Sadekul Islam from the Communist Party of Bangladesh, Mu Khurshid Alam from the Jatiya Party, Md. Ibrahim Khalil from Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Mu Mizanur Rahman from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and Md. Aminul Islam from BNP.

Elected MPs:  Mim Obaidullah of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won in 1986. Salah Uddin Ahmed of BNP was elected in 1988. Syed Manjur Hossain was elected in 1991 and re-elected in both February and June 1996. He also won in 2001. Ziaur Rahman of the Awami League won in 2008. Golam Mostafa Biswas was elected in 2014, and Aminul Islam of BNP won in 2018. In the 2023 by-election and the 2024 general election, Ziaur Rahman of the Awami League was elected.

Chapainawabganj-3 (Parliamentary Constituency No. 45):
Chapainawabganj-3 constituency comprises Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila. The total number of voters is 443,260, including 223,156 male voters and 220,104 female voters. There are no transgender voters.

Candidates: Five candidates are contesting in this constituency: Md. Monirul Islam from Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Md. Shafiqul Islam from Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP), Md. Fazlur Islam Khan from Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), and Md. Harunur Rashid from BNP.

Elected MPs: Latifur Rahman of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won in 1986. Ehsan Ali Khan, nominated by the United Opposition, won in 1988. Latifur Rahman was re-elected from Jamaat-e-Islami in 1991. Harunur Rashid of BNP won in both February and June 1996 general elections, and again in 2001. Abdul Odud of the Awami League was elected in 2008 and 2014. Harunur Rashid of BNP won in 2018. In the 2023 by-election and the 2024 general election, Abdul Odud was elected as the Awami League candidate.
