13th National Parliamentary Election: Chattogram District
Political parties view Chattogram District as extremely important in national parliamentary elections. Known as the commercial capital of Bangladesh, Chattogram has 16 parliamentary constituencies. Surrounded by hills, sea, and valleys, Chattogram—often called the Queen of the East—has witnessed intense electoral competition between the Awami League and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in past elections, with the balance of victories remaining almost even. In addition, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Khelafat Majlish also maintain a strong presence in the district. In all elections considered transparent (excluding 2014, 2018, and 2024), BNP performed slightly better overall, though the Awami League also won several seats.
