13th National Parliamentary Election: Rangamati District
In the national parliamentary elections, the Awami League has always been dominant in Rangamati district. However, the indigenous communities hold significant influence here. Rangamati (Parliamentary Constituency No. 299): Rangamati constituency comprises the entire Rangamati district. The total number of voters is 509,272, including 263,411 male, 245,859 female, and 2 third-gender voters.
Candidates: A total of seven candidates are contesting. Jui Chakma is contesting with the Hoe symbol from Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party. Muhammad Abu Bakr Siddique is contesting with the Rickshaw symbol from Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis. Ashok Talukdar is contesting with the Plough symbol from Jatiya Party. Dipen Dewan is contesting with the Sheaf of Paddy symbol from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Pahel Chakma is contesting as an independent candidate with the Football symbol. Md. Abul Bashar (Badsha) is contesting with the Truck symbol from Ganadhikar Parishad (GOP). Md. Jasim Uddin is contesting with the Hand Fan symbol from Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
Previous Results: In 1991, the seat was won by Awami League candidate Dipankar Talukdar. In 1996, Awami League candidate Dipankar Talukdar was elected again. In 2001, BNP candidate Moni Swapan Dewan won the seat. In 2008, Awami League candidate Dipankar Talukdar was elected.
