13th Parliament’s budget session to begin June 7
The second session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, which will also be the first budget session for the 2026–27 fiscal year, is scheduled to begin on June 7 at 3:00pm.
The session has been summoned by President Mohammed Sahabuddin under Article 72 (1) of the Constitution, according to a notification signed on Thursday (May 7) by Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Secretary Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan.
Parliament Secretariat sources said Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury will place the national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year on the opening day of the session.
As the budget session, it is expected to be a longer sitting. The duration of the session will be decided at a meeting of the Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee prior to its commencement.
The current parliament’s last session ended on April 30, during which 94 bills were passed in the first session of the new government.
The 2024–25 budget was last presented in parliament in June 2024 by then finance minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali of the ousted Awami League government. Following political changes in August 2024, the 2025–26 budget was later presented by interim finance adviser Salehuddin Ahmed.
