13-year-old boy goes missing after leaving home with mother’s iphone

A 13-year-old schoolboy named Opratim has gone missing from the Kotbari area of Cumilla.

Opratim is the only child of Dr Nahida Begum, an associate professor in the Department of Bangla at Cumilla University, and K M Firoz Shahriar.

The boy’s father filed a general diary (GD) with Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station the day after he went missing.

Opratim was a student of Border Guard Public School, according to his family.

According to the GD and family members, Opratim left his home in Kotbari, Ward No. 24 of Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station, at 3:30pm on Thursday (September 18), carrying his mother’s phone to take photographs. He has not returned home since.

Family members searched various possible locations but have so far been unable to trace him. They are continuing their search.

Speaking about the incident, Opratim’s mother Dr Nahida Begum said, “I have not been able to find my son since 3pm. His name is Opratim. He is 13 years old and studies in Class Seven. He was wearing this panjabi when he went missing. He took my iPhone to take pictures with his friends and did not return. I request everyone to help us in any way they can. Please help us find my son. We have informed the police.”
